NEILLSVILLE FALLS IN SECTIONAL SEMI-FINAL

The Neillsville Warrior girls basketball team's season came to end last night as they dropped a Sectional Semi-Final to Altoona 41-39 at Osseo. The Warriors (24-1) led by 4 at the end of one quarter 14-10 but could only muster 4 points in the second quarter while Altoona (18-7) netted 9 to take a 19-18 lead into the locker room. In a hard fought and physical second half Neillsville took a one point lead at 25-24 into the final quarter. In the highest scoring quarter of the contest, Altoona used timely outside shooting and free throws down the stretch as they outscored Neillsville 17-14 in the 4th quarter to win it 41-39. Neillsville had fine inside play from Corina Craig who led the way in scoring with 15 points and Sami Pfieffer who had some tough rebounds. Leading scorer, Jenny Lindner was held to 10 points and MacKenzie Trunkel was held scoreless. Kayla Springer led Altoona with 15 points. Altoona will now play in the Sectional Final Saturday night at Chippewa Falls against Ladysmith.
