Posted by Riley Hebert-News Director

While Clark County’s overall population has increased over the past ten years, the population of almost every city and village has dipped.

The U.S. Census Bureau released census data for Wisconsin on Thursday.
Clark County’s population increased from 33,557 in 2000 to 34,690 in 2010--an increase of about 6%.

But every city, with the exception of Owen and Thorp, saw its population decline.

Abbotsford (1,616) and Colby (1,354) saw the biggest decreases with their populations dropping 17% and 16%, respectively.

The village of Granton’s population decreased 13% to 355 residents. Neillsville’s population fell 10% to 2,463. Greenwood’s population fell 5% to 1,026 and Loyal’s fell 4% to 1,261.

Owen (940) gained 4 residents and Thorp’s population grew nearly 6% to 1,621.
