The Wisconsin DOT has released more information about a deadly 9-vehicle pile-up that happened on WIS 29 Thursday morning.

The crash happened near Owen in extremely dense fog.

73-year-old Frank Stofferan of Green Bay was killed. There were 9 other people injured, including 25-year-old Aaron Ludwikowski from Weyeraehauser who suffered life-threatening injuries and remains in critical condition at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield.

According to the preliminary investigation, a semi was crossing the eastbound lane of WIS 29 from County Trunk P when it was struck by three cars and another semi unit, all eastbound. The second semi unit was then rear-ended by a straight truck operated by Stofferan, who was ejected and died at the scene.
