A 17-year-old Logan High School senior was killed this weekend while taking pictures with a hunting party in the northwest corner of Monroe County. The incident happened on Saturday night. Monroe County Sheriff Peter Quirin said the teenager was killed by a gunshot wound and a male suspect is in custody. While authorities aren’t releasing the name of the victim or the suspect, the La Crosse Tribune reports 24-year old Russell Robert Schroeder III, was admitted to the Monroe County Jail at 7:14 a.m. Sunday and was arrested for second-degree reckless homicide. The arrest record listed his address as Abbotsford Ave., in rural Sparta – close to where the alleged shooting took place. Charges are expected to be filed Tuesday in Monroe County Circuit Court.
