A 42-year-old Neillsville man is now charged with killing a Sparta couple nearly nine years ago.

The Monroe County District Attorney says 42-year-old Larry Schaffer is charged with two counts of first-degree intentional homicide as party to a crime and hiding a corpse in the murder of Kale Kvistad and Connie DeGeorge. The couple’s bodies were found in rural Monroe County in December 2004, two years after they went missing.

Court records indicate the charges were filed on Tuesday and list Schaffer’s current address as 539 Hewett Street. He’ll appear in court on Friday.

The criminal complaint includes statements Schaffer allegedly made to people about killing the couple possibly over money and drugs.

Investigators have called Schaffer the primary suspect in the murders for years.
