4H HOLDS EXPLORATION DAY
Thursday, January 6th, 2011 -- 9:41 am
Posted by Riley Hebert-News Director

Holiday break usually means quiet schools and a break from learning, but not for the young people of Clark County. On December 28th Clark County 4-H sponsored an “Exploration Day” open to youth in grades kindergarten through eighth grade. At this event youth were invited to try new activities and learn new skills.

More than 40 youth from across Clark County participated in Exploration Day and expanded their horizons. The day started at 9:00 a.m. at the Loyal High School in the gymnasium. The group then parted ways into several small groups to try their hands at new activities which consisted of Foods Revue, Sewing, Worm Beds, Leather Stamping, Acting, Dog Obedience, Decorative House Plants, Tree Identification, Wildlife Exploration, Tie-Pillows, Gift Box Craft, Photography, and Science, Technology, Engineering & Math Exploration.

Class teachers were (in order of classes listed): Holly Noah and Nicole Schesel, Hancock Fabrics (Vicki), Hillary Niemi, Bonnie Weber and Stephanie Bill, Brooke and Amber Noah, Marion Wehrman and Terri Schultz, Karen Baer, Dennis and Emily Fleischmann, Sebastian Neisius, Carrie Kroeplin, Lori Hendrickson, Connie Bushman, Rebecca Stiemann and Katelyn Welsh. Bobbi Neisius and Judy Morrow organized the 2010 Exploration Day. Without the assistance of amazing 4-H volunteers events like this one would not be possible.

A big thank you goes out to Loyal High School being the host site for Exploration Day and all of the volunteers that made this event possible.

You can join the 4-H community today. To learn how to become a 4-H member or volunteer leader in Clark County please contact Sara Gronski, 4-H Youth Development Agent, at 715-743-5121 / sara.gronski@ces.uwex.edu.
