Posted by Riley Hebert-News Director

The City of Loyal will have a new Mayor next year.

2-term incumbent Carol Lampsa has filed papers indicating she will not seek reelection.

Mike Hayes has already filed his nomination papers for the position. At least one other resident has taken out papers, but has not returned them, according to City Clerk Shannon Toufar.

The incumbents from Ward 2 and 3, David Williams and Ralph Schmidt, will seek reelection to those posts. No one else has filed, so far.

And Ward 1 incumbents Betty Gluch-Voss and Carmen Engelbretson also plan to seek reelection.

Candidates have until the end of business on Tuesday to turn in their papers.
