For the first time, there will be more cell phone numbers than landline numbers on the state’s No-Call List.

51% of the telephone numbers included on the January 1, 2011, Wisconsin No-Call List will be cell phone numbers.

Cell phones were not included in the state’s original No-Call legislation, which took effect in 2003. However, lawmakers changed the rules in 2008, and since then, the popularity in cell phone registration has continued to increase.

The January list will include a total of 2,284,794 cell phone and landline numbers. That is the highest count on record.

The next quarterly registration deadline is February 28, 2011.
