SEX OFFENDER SET FOR CLARK CO. RELEASE

PRESS RELEASE:
 The Clark County Sheriff's Department is releasing the following information pursuant to Wisconsin State Statute 301.46(2m) which authorizes law enforcement agencies to inform the public of a sex offender’s release when, in the discretion of the agency, the release of information will enhance public safety, awareness and protection. The individual who appears on this notification has been convicted of a sex offense. Further, his criminal history places him in a classification level which reflects the potential to re-offend.
This sex offender has served the sentence imposed on him by the courts. He is NOT wanted by law enforcement at this time. This notification is not intended to increase fear, rather, it is our belief that an informed public is a safer public.
Sex offenders have always lived in our communities; but it was not until the Sex Offender Registration and Community Notification Law was enacted that law enforcement was able to share this information with the community. Citizen abuse of this information to threaten, intimidate or harass registered sex offenders will not be tolerated.
Benjamin T. Pittman had previously served his sentence and was eligible for release on November 30, 2010. However, Mr. Pittman has not a found a suitable residence to reside in; therefore, he will remain in the custody of the Clark County Jail pending his ability to find a residence. While residing at the Clark County Jail Mr. Pittman will be allowed to leave the jail accompanied by State of Wisconsin Department of Corrections staff in an attempt to locate an adequate residence or employment
Offense Summary:
Mr. Pittman served a prison sentence for third degree sexual assault. Mr. Pittman’s victims were an adult female and a prepubescent male known to him. Other conviction behaviors include sexual assault of prepubescent acquaintances.

He will be supervised by Wisconsin Department of Corrections Agents specializing in intensive supervision. In addition to the intensive supervision rules he has special conditions of supervision which include the following: no unsupervised contact with minors; no taverns, bars, liquor stores; no contact with the victim; not to consume alcohol or drugs, comply with standard sex offender rules, cooperate with electronic monitoring, face to face contact with law enforcement required, and comply with all requirements will be a registrant of the Wisconsin Sex Offender Registration Program.
If Benjamin T. Pittman violates any of these rules or conditions of his supervision, he will be taken into custody and placed in confinement, pending review of possible revocation hearings. Witnessed violations should be reported to the Clark County Sheriff’s Department. Mr. Pittman will remain under the supervision of the Wisconsin Department of Corrections until December 4, 2017.
