A Neillsville graduate charged with murdering his mother and father will go on trial almost one year after he was arrested.

On Monday, a La Crosse County judge scheduled a 10-day trial for Eric Koula, 41, to begin on July 5th.

The West Salem man is accused of fatally shooting his parents, Dennis and Merna Koula, at their home outside of La Crosse.

Authorities say Koula shot his parents on May 21 in an apparent scheme to earn his share of a sizable inheritance. He reported finding their bodies three days later.

Court documents paint Eric as a struggling day trader who lost more than $1 million given to him by his parents since 2006.

Jury selection is set for June 27.
