A group that’s trying to raise money to construct a business incubator near Owen has a new front-person.

Just over a week after Mike Kawleski announced he is stepping down as the head of the proposed Central Wisconsin Agribusiness Innovation Center, the group has already found a replacement. Rebecca Baumann has been hired to lead fundraising, tenant recruitment and marketing for the program, which is a key component of a 71-acre Clark County Agribusiness Park, located just south of Highway 29 in Owen.

Baumann has previously served as the director of The Minnesota Project, a non-profit organization that performs research and develops policy related to agriculture, renewable energy and food issues. She also worked as the director of the Wisconsin Land and Water Conservation Association for six years, where she represented 72 county conservation departments and worked with legislators, the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture and other local, county and state governmental entities.

Groundbreaking for the center will take place in March 2011.
