STRATFORD NATIVE NAMED CARDINAL

Pope Benedict XVI has named 24 new cardinals, including a large number of Italians and one name that will be familiar to area Catholics.
Archbishop Raymond Burke received the assignment this morning. Burke was born in Stratford and served as the head of the La Crosse Diocese. He now leads a Vatican court.
Burke’s made headlines for scolding Democrats for their support of abortion rights.
