WIAA GIRLS STATE GOLF MONDAY AND TUESDAY

The 39th Annual Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association Girls State Golf Championships will be held Monday and Tuesday, Oct. 11-12, at the University Ridge Golf Course in Madison, Wis. Competition will begin at 8 a.m. on both days.

THE FORMAT: The competition features a two division format with 12 teams and 18 individuals competing in Division 1, and six teams and nine individuals participating in Division 2. Competitors play 36 holes, weather permitting, including 18 holes on each day. The lowest scores from the first day will have the later tee times Tuesday.

TEAMS COMPETING: The schools qualifying for the State meet in Division 1 are Arrowhead, Brookfield Central, Divine Savior Holy Angels, Homestead, Kettle Moraine, Marinette, Middleton, Milton, New Richmond, Onalaska, Sheboygan North/South and Waunakee. Challenging for the Division 2 team championship are Edgewood, Notre Dame, Osceola, Osseo-Fairchild, Regis and The Prairie School.

LAST YEAR: Middleton won its first team championship in girls golf by winning the Division 1 title. Madison Edgewood captured its seventh straight Division 2 championship and ninth straight overall.
