DRY SPELL COMES AT THE RIGHT TIME FOR GROWERS

Some Wisconsin farmers are well ahead of the usual corn harvest this year.
And a dry spell is saving them money.

Some farmers report being six weeks, or more, ahead of last year's harvest. And the recent dry weather means they won't need to spend a lot of money to commercially dry a wet corn crop for storage.

Farm Bureau spokesman Casey Langan says hot weather in the summer and timely rain combined for a great growing season.

Langan says increased demand overseas and droughts in southern states could push corn prices higher.
