JACKSON CO. CONSIDERS CUTTING WORKWEEK
Monday, September 27th, 2010 -- 11:09 am Posted by Riley Hebert-News Director
The budget situation for Jackson County is bad. Budget-writers are facing an $824,000 2010 budget shortfall.
The Board of Supervisors is looking at possibly cutting about 124 employees’ workweeks by 4 hours. The proposal was sent back to the personnel and bargaining committee last week.
The county’s 2010 budget deficit largely comes from a Department of Health and Human Services shortfall, estimated between $600,000 and $900,000. The next personnel and bargaining committee meeting is at 9 a.m. Oct. 4.
Meanwhile, Clark County’s Board of Supervisors will get their first glimpse at the proposed budget when they meet on Friday at 9 a.m. at the courthouse.
