NEILLSVILLE DROPS OPENER
Monday, August 30th, 2010 -- 10:29 am
Posted by Larry Hoeser, Sports Director

The Neillsville Warrior football team opened up the 2010 season on Friday to a quality Colby squad, falling to the Hornets 50-0. Colby used a combination of pass and run to dominate the Warriors. Colby got out to a 35-0 halftime lead, thanks in part to the running of their 205 pound senior running back, Dylan Loertscher who had 2 touchdowns in the first half and 3 in the game to go along with 129 yards rushing on just 11 carries. Junior quarterback Aaron Koerner hit on his first 6 passes and finished 7 for 9 for 120 yards and 2 touchdown passes. Neillsville, which lost a number of skill position players to graduation last year including some on the offensive line, struggled the whole night offensively to gain yardage on the ground which forced quarterback Adam Sutton, who made is first varsity start, into the shot gun. Sutton finished 8 of 19, unoffically, for 99 yards and 2 interceptions. Neillsville will host Fall Creek this Friday night - game time is 7 pm and it can be heard live on 92-7 FM WPKG.
