CHIPPEWA CO. TRAIN ACCIDENT

Meanwhile, Chippewa County authorities continue to investigate a fatal train accident near Lake Wissota.
It appears a 13-year old boy was fishing with some friends and went to retrieve a fishing pole on a bridge as the a train was approaching.
The juvenile was struck by the train and thrown into the water.
Divers from Chippewa Fire District responded from the Lafayette Fire Station. The victim was recovered within a short period of time and transported to St. Joseph’s hospital in Chippewa Falls, then air lifted to Children’s Hospital in Minneapolis. He later died from his injuries.
