SPENCER MAN GETS MAXIMUM FOR KIDNAPPING, ASSAULT

A man from Spencer is going to prison for the maximum 40 years for kidnapping and sexually assaulting a 12-year-old girl back in 1990.
DNA evidence linked 40-year-old Michael Buchanan of Spencer to the crime.
Buchanan kidnapped her at knife-point, assaulted her, and later left her in a field near Wisconsin Rapids.
In emotional testimony at yesterday’s sentencing, the victim, now 30, said her life was shattered by the incident.
At the time of his arrest last year, Wood County authorities said Buchanan was also being investigated for other unsolved assaults.
