A homeless Green Bay man accused of robbing a bank in Colby was back in court today.

54-year-old Lawrence LaCount is charged with armed robbery with the threat of force after he allegedly held up Mid-Wisconsin Bank in Colby last month. He could face fines of up to $100,000 and 40 years in prison.

LaCount pleaded not guilty at this morning’s arraignment hearing. He’s also filed for a substitute judge.

The criminal complaint indicates LaCount was wearing a surgical mask when he approached a bank teller’s station, demanding she put money into a garbage bag.

He kept his hand in his pocket at all times during the robbery. Authorities later found LaCount was in possession of a handgun.

LaCount made off with around $6,600 in cash, but was arrested a short time later in Marshfield.
