STATE SMOKING BAN JUST WEEKS AWAY

Wisconsin’s smoking ban is only a few weeks from becoming law.
The ban effectively eliminates smoking at any workplace.
Neillsville Police Chief Brad Lindner says they’ve fielded several questions from area businesses.
"We've had discussion with tavern owners and bartenders, advising them what they can and can't do," Lindner says.
Some have inquired about smoking enclosures, which must meet certain guidelines.
"It has to be a room area with two or more walls with two or more walls with at least 25% openings through window space. The requirements apply if it has a roof," he explains.
What about enforcement?
Lindner says smoking infractions won’t be a high priority, but officers will definitely respond if they receive complaints. Both the smoker and the business owner could face forfeitures of $173.
