HEAD OF LOCAL AGENCY RESIGNS AFTER AUDIT

Posted by Riley Hebert-News Director

The longtime head of a central Wisconsin agency is retiring just days after a state audit criticized his management.

Ron Schnyder, 62, was the Executive Director of the North Central Community Action Program. It’s a non-profit group that helps the needy in Wood, Marathon and Lincoln counties.

An audit of the state-funded energy weatherization program found problems. The agency was cited for misuse of cell phones, using money to pay an employee's mortgage, helping get an employee who was arrested for drunken driving out of jail, and paying two employees, one of them Schnyder, some $20,000 in mileage for commuting to and from work.
