GRASSFIRE NEAR NEILLSVILLE

There was a grassfire in the area Thursday afternoon.
Neillsville Fire Chief Matt Meyer says they were called to the fire just southwest of Gesche Funeral home, off STH 73 at around 5:45 p.m.
The property owner was burning some grass, and the fire got away from him.
It took firefighters about one-half hour to put out the blaze.
Meyer says it’s worth repeating: it is extremely dry, warm and windy out there. Fire officials urge you not to burn.
