NURSING HOME SALE WILL BE FINALIZED THIS WEEK

 The sale of Memorial Medical Center's nursing home facility will be finalized Wednesday.
The new owner, Grant Thayer, is from Rochester, MN. He currently owns four other nursing homes located in Minnesota and Wisconsin, all in smaller communities, such as Neillsville. Thayer will have a physical presence in the facility, with ongoing visits to work with the employees and meet and greet residents, a press release stated.
The same medial and nursing staff, therapists, maintenance, housekeeping and dietary staff will continue working with residents.
According to past reports, the nursing home employs 65. They will not have to reapply for their positions.
MMC CEO Scott Polenz says the nursing home has been losing around $1-million a year because of a failing government reimbursement formula.
Memorial Medical Center has operated the nursing home for over 50 years.
