PANEL TAKES NO ACTION ON REP. WOOD

From the Wisconsin Radio Network

Even though a special ethics committee considering the expulsion of state Representative Jeff Wood (I-Chippewa Falls) split their vote Tuesday on how to proceed with the measure, the sponsor of the resolution is confident the full Assembly will still act the proposal.

State Representative Steve Nass (R-Whitewater) says his expectation is that the Assembly Speaker will receive the report and then schedule it for a vote on the floor. If that does not happen, Nass has the ability to call for a vote. The Whitewater Republican says he’s prepared to do that, because he believes the public wants a vote on the issue.

If the resolution makes it to the floor, Assembly Democrats are expected to push for an amendment to simply reprimand Wood for being arrested three times in one year on suspicion of driving under the influence. Nass says such a move is not acceptable and would only anger the public.
