OSSEO-FAIRCHILD WINS GIRLS BB CLOVERBELT TITLE

The Osseo-Fairchild Chieftains won their 2nd straight Cloverbelt Conference title in girls basketball on Saturday by beating Neillsville 45-38. The Chieftains jumped out to an 11-0 lead in the first quarter before Neillsville was able to cut it to a 4 point deficit at halftime 21-17. The game was close throughout the second half with Osseo-Fairchild holding the lead the whole way and some key free-throws down the stretch made the final 45-38. Caitlin Courtney of Neillsville led all scorers with 14 while LaTaya Mulhern led the Chieftains with 13. Osseo-Fairchild finishes the regular season 21-1 while Neillsville is now 18-4 heading into the State Tournament on Tuesday. In the 2nd place playoff on Saturday, Eau Claire Regis downed Owen-Withee 76-59.
