WOOD CO. DEP'T HEAD SUSPENDED, NOT FIRED

An embattled Wood County department head will keep his job.
According to the Marshfield NewsHerald John Chrest will be suspended for seven days and was forced to sigh a ‘last chance performance improvement agreement’.
Chrest has received five disciplinary letters since taking the helm of the Wood County Social Services Department 12 years ago.
The latest complaint stems from a personal relationship Chrest had with an employee in his department that began in 2006 and continued, periodically, through early December.
According to an internal investigation, Chrest tried to discuss the relationship with the woman during business and asked other employees questions about the woman.
In January, Chrest showed up at the woman’s home after midnight and left the woman refused to talk and threatened to call authorities. Chrest continued calling the woman and two co-workers.
