ANDREW ROCK SPRINTS WAY TO HELSINKI
Thursday, June 23rd, 2005 -- 8:21 am Posted by Riley Hebert-News Director
He did it – Stratford-native Andrew Rock cemented his place as one of the top three 400-meter runners in the country during Saturday’s USA Track and Field Championships. Rock came from behind to finish 3rd in Saturday’s race. He ran the quarter-mile in 44.7-seconds, earning a spot in the World Track and Field Championships in Helsinki, Finland in August. Jeremy Wariner and Darold Williamson finished first and second and Rock, who drew a tough lane assignment, had to catch a number of runners to squeeze into the World Championship field. Rock is an Olympic Gold Medalist in the 4-by-400-meter relay, but said his goal this year was to make it to the World Championships in the open 400-meter dash. Learn more about Andrew Rock!
