A 52-year-old Pittsville man is in custody after allegedly ramming three squad cars during a chase early Sunday morning.

According to the Wood County Sheriff’s Department, deputies made contact with a suspicious vehicle which had pulled into a town of Wood business at around 2:50 a.m. Sunday morning.

The deputy suspected the operator, Bernard Tritz of Pittsville, was intoxicated. Tritz refused to leave his vehicle and fled the scene.

The chase apparently left the roadway. Deputies continued to pursue the man, who rammed 3 squads during the incident. The man was eventually stopped and taken into custody.
