WAITING FOR A SHOT IN THE ARM

It appears states and counties will be struggling to vaccinate people against the swine flu pandemic well into December and January — long after the first peak of the virus in the United States.
Despite years of planning, the government has had all kinds of trouble producing and delivering vaccines in a timely matter.
Here in Clark County, the Public Health Department had planned to start in-school vaccination clinics this week, but they’ve been canceled as officials wait to receive the needed doses.
Ellen Moldenhauer with the department says parental permission slips are being held by the schools and will be valid if (or when) ample vaccines arrive.
She says production and delivery is getting better by the week.
The Clark County Health Department does have some vaccines and they will be extending the Neillsville Walk-in Clinic hours on Monday, November 9th and Monday, November 16th from noon to 6 p.m. in room 105 at the Courthouse here in Neillsville.
The H1N1 vaccine will be available for pregnant women, children ages 6 months to 4 years, persons who live or provide care for infants age 6 months or younger, Healthcare and emergency personnel, and children ages 5-18 who have chronic medical conditions.
There will be no charge for the H1N1 vaccine. Please Call 715-743-5105 with questions.
