DAMIEN LUCHTERHAND PARTICIPATES IN THE USA WRESTLING PRE-SEASON NATIONALS

Neillsville sophomore wrestler Damien Luchterhand attended the USA Wrestling Pre-Season Nationals this past weekend in Cedar Falls, Iowa, where he finished 2 matches away from placing in the 145 pound weight class. The USA Wrestling Pre-Season Nationals feature wrestler from all over the country. Damien received a bye in the first round and then lost his second round match to Chase White of Lincoln, Nebraska 9-5. Damien picked up pins in his next two matches, the first in 2:14 over Luke Newgaard of Eden Prairie, Minnesota and the second pin came in 2:27 over Dylan Hammond of Shelbyville, Illinois. Luchterhand then beat Joshua Kelleher of the Farmington wrestling club 1-0. In his 5th match of the day, Damien was beaten by Alex Barrera of Chicago in a very good match, 6-5. Varsity wrestling practice for Neillsville begins November 16th with the regular season starting Dec. 4th at Spencer.
