VACCINE SHORTAGE PROMPTS CHANGES
Wednesday, October 28th, 2009 -- 8:23 am Posted by Riley Hebert-News Director
Swine-flu vaccinations are in short supply.
The state Department of Health Services called on health care providers to stop conducting mass vaccination clinics; instead, they want the vaccines saved for high-risk groups.
Those groups include: pregnant women, health care personnel and people who live with or care for infants 6 months or younger. Along with those 6 months and 4 years of age, and kids between 5 and 18 years old who have chronic medical conditions.
Officials say it will be several weeks before the vaccine supply is replenished.
