GRANTON TAX RATE STAYING THE SAME

Posted by Riley Hebert-News Director

The Granton School Board set the tax levy and mil rate for the district last night.

The district’s 2010 levy will be $996,776, an increase of around 3.8%. The tax rate will actually stay the same at $10 per thousand.

During the meeting, superintendent Arnie Snook explained Granton was one of very few districts in the CESA 10 district that elected not to levy to the maximum allowed by the state’s revenue cap rules. If the district had, the mil rate would have been over $12 per thousand.

In fact, the average levy increase in the CESA 10 district is nearly 9%.
