POWER OUTAGE SENDS KIDS HOME IN LOYAL

A bird flew into an Xcel Energy substation in Loyal this morning, causing a power outage.

Xcel spokespeople tell Central Wisconsin Broadcasting News nearly 890 customers in the city of Loyal lost power at around 9:15 a.m.

The incident prompted Loyal school officials to send kids home at 10:30 a.m.

Crews were on the scene as of 10:15. Xcel hoped to have power restored by 11:30 a.m.
