It was an emotional scene in Jackson County Court Tuesday as a Hatfield man pleaded guilty to killing his ex-wife.

The case was set to go to trial in two weeks, but Doug Sidie elected to enter the plea to to a charge of 1st degree intentional homicide. He admitted shooting Alisha Sidie outside his home in Hatfield in November 2008.

The felony charge carries a mandatory life prison term, but a judge could give Sidie a chance for supervised release after 20 years.

No sentencing date has been set, but Sidie and Alisha’s family will address the court at that time.
