STATE CONSIDERS LONGER HUNTING SEASON
Wednesday, August 12th, 2009 -- 11:20 am Posted by Riley Hebert-News Director
The Wisconsin Natural Resources Board is meeting in Hayward this week.
They will discuss proposals to expand the state's November gun-deer hunt to 16 days.
An advisory committee recommends the change to control the whitetail herd.
The board previously nixed the unpopular earn-a-buck program, which required hunters to shoot a doe before they could take a buck.
The committee's recommendations include two proposals - one starts the longer season a week earlier than normal and the other starts it on its traditional opener, the Saturday before Thanksgiving.
