ID CHECK CAMPAIGN UNDERWAY
Friday, August 7th, 2009 -- 11:18 am

If you plan to go out for a drink in Marshfield, you better have your ID.

On Wednesday, many of the businesses that sell alcohol agreed to check 100% of customers’ IDs in an effort to curb underage drinking.

The Police Department has conducted several undercover checks of establishments that sell alcohol, and they consistently show underage patrons are served without being carded.

A recent check found 50% of establishments didn’t card the undercover, underage patron.

Business owners that sign up for the ID Check campaign agree to card 100% of their patrons. In return, they will be given a warning, instead of a citation, if they fail compliance checks , which will occur between September 1 and January 31.
