We’ve been telling you about Jan Janssen – the 29-year-old Marshfield man whose dream of going to Hollywood landed him in the finals of the Ford Video Casting Call.

Today, we can tell you the good news: He won the contest.

Tuesday, Janssen learned more people cast on-line votes for his performance of the Earth, Wind and Fire song “Shining Star” than the other two finalists.

Janssen’s reward: a new Ford Focus, a trip to L.A. to see the American Idol finale and a walk-on role in a video with the final two contestants.

"I'm so excited. I can't wait," Janssen said. "I'm so thankful to everyone who voted. More thanks than I could possible send out."

While a new car is a great prize, Janssen is more excited about the trip to L.A.

"For me, this is my dream: to get into the movie business. Hollywood is my dream," Janssen says.

"Hopefully something will come of it - I know it will, because I'm going to make it happen."

The last two weeks have been hectic. Janssen was working the phone and e-mail trying to “get the vote out”.

"It's just cool how many people supported me and were really enthustiac about it," Janssen said.

Janssen will be flying to L.A. on Friday and he’ll return next Thursday.
