LOYAL PROBABLY WON'T SEEK 2ND REFERENDUM

After their first attempt failed this spring, it appears the Loyal school board will not bring another revenue cap exemption referendum to voters this year.

According to this week’s TRG, school board president Dave Fricke says he’d be “very surprised” if the board elected to send a scaled-down referendum to voters this fall. He cites the sour economy as the main factor.

District voters rejected a 3-year, $500,000 per year referendum in April. The vote was 514-439.

The district’s projected budget deficit is expected to grow from $188,000 this year to $705,000 by the 2011-2012 fiscal year.
