ONE DEAD IN ATV ACCIDENT

A Clark County ATV crash has taken the life of a Minnesota man.
It happened Saturday at about 5:15 pm, one mile south of STH 95, in the Township of Dewhurst.
According to a press release, an ATV operated by 35-year-old David R. Holzwarth of Mabel, MN, was southbound on the ATV trail with a passenger, identified as 32-year-old Heather K. Stark, also of Mabel, MN.
Holzwarth apparently lost control of the ATV causing it to roll over. Holzwarth received fatal injuries and Stark was transported by ambulance for treatment of her injuries.
Clark County Coroner Richard Schleifer pronounced Holzwarth dead at the scene. Helmets were not worn by either subject and neither speed nor alcohol appear to have been a factor in the crash.
The Merrillan Fire Department/First Responders, Hatfield Fire Department/First Responders and Black River Falls Ambulance responded to the scene. Investigation is continuing by the Sheriff’s Department and DNR.
