LOSING STREAK CONTINUES FOR THE EXPRESS
Wednesday, July 8th, 2009 -- 6:03 am Posted by Larry Hoeser, Sports Director
The losing streak for the Eau Claire Express has hit six games. The Brainerd Lunkers lit up the lumber by pounding out ten hits last night, including three doubles, to complete the sweep of the Eau Claire Express, 8-6 at Mills Field. The Express brought home their first run of the night in the fifth, and followed up with a four-run sixth inning that featured nine hitters and five base hits . One more run in the seventh pulled the Express within one. However, the Eau Claire bats fell silent after that spark. Tonight the Express will travel to Thunder Bay to take on the Border Cats. The Border Cats are nearly in the exact opposite situation of the Express. Before Tuesday night the Border Cats had won six straight games after an awful first half. They did not even reach ten wins as they went 9-25. But the second half has been a much different story for both teams making the next series intriguing. After Thunder Bay the Express will travel to Mankato to take on the first half North Division champion MoonDogs.
