Some area schools’ lunch programs are getting a boost thanks to federal stimulus funding.
73 districts will share $1.3 million in Recovery Act funds for enhancing nutrition, supporting food safety, improving energy-efficiency, facilitating expanded participation in meal programs and incorporating locally grown fresh fruits and vegetables into school lunch programs.
In our area, Abbotsford will get $16,000; the Merrillan Elementary School will get $9,500; and Granton will receive $5,207
