GRANTON PREPARES TO CRACK DOWN ON TRUANCY

The Granton School Board met Monday night.
The board decided to move forward with plans to add a Dean of Students position to address truancy and discipline issues.
The Dean of Students will handle time-consuming truancy paperwork, offer guidance and work with the principal to administer disciplinary measures.
The board also increased the school psychologist position from a 40% position to a full-time position. The position will now also have guidance counselor duties.
The position will be hired through CESA, and the district doesn’t anticipate a large increase in salary.
