SCHOOL'S OUT FOR SUMMER!

School’s out for summer!

Neillsville middle and elementary school students celebrated the imminent summer vacation with awards and talent Friday.

"Mr. Kuhn and the teachers had the Field Day events this morning. Beautiful day. Mrs. Rueth put on this talent show as she does every year. It's a great way to end the school year," says Elementary principal Mark Craig, who served as the MC Friday.

It was also the last regular school day for Craig. He’s retiring after over 20 years at the helm in Neillsville.

"Last night was kind of funny. I was getting kind of a queasy feeling, I just though, 'go with the flow,'" he said. "It's going to be tough, missing the kids."

Craig suffered a heart attack in his office back in April. He credits his co-workers for saving his life and says he’s feeling much better.

"Feeling real good. The kids have been great. That's the best therapy I've had, is getting back with the kids."

Craig still has some summer school duties and will likely help the district in some form or fashion next year.
