A 47-year-old Medford man was airlifted to Madison after he apparently suffered chemical burns, which were the result of an ammonia leak.

Taylor Co. dispatch received a call at around 8:20 p.m. of a possible ammonia leak in the City of Medford.

When crews arrived, they located the 47-year-old man, who they suspected was the victim of chemical burns.

The man had been conducting maintenance at the Medford Curling Club when the incident occurred.

As of early Thursday morning, the area was still restricted as authorities were waiting for specialists to stabilize the scene so that further investigation could be conducted.
