FOXFIRE GARDENS FUTURE IN QUESTION

The future of one of Marshfield’s more popular attractions is in question because of a civil court judgment against its owners.
Stephen and Linda Schulte own Foxfire Botanical Gardens just north of Marshfield. In 2007, a 12-person Wood County jury found the Schultes guilty of intentionally deceiving and making fraudulent representations regarding financial investments to three Marshfield residents.
An Appeals Court just affirmed the decision last month.
The victims might now seek to collect the judgments, possibly through foreclosure of the gardens.
The court proceedings also revealed liens against the Schultes totaling nearly $1 million.
