DENTAL CLINIC TO OPEN IN AUGUST

A Neillsville dental clinic catering to low-income residents from all over the state is on schedule for a summer opening.
"Things are proceeding well," states Greg Nycz, Executive Director of Family Health Center in Marshfield.
Work could begin within the next few weeks. The center will be located in the Boon Commercial Park near the American Legion Hall.
"We'll have a groundbreaking event, probably in May, when the weather gets a little warmer," Nycz says, "And, we're planning to be operational and seeing patients by August."
The facility will officially be titled “Marshfield Clinic – Neillsville Dental Center.”
Nycz has already hired a center manager and a few of the five dentists. More staff will be hired in the next few months.
He looks at the Neillsville Center as a unique training facility.
"That's really going to be the first clinic that we've modified the footprint on to accommodate fourth-year dental students," he explains, "Really, it's going to be our first clinical campus."
Nycz says Federal Stimulus funding has already helped cover some of the cuts the state had to make to their budget. Rep. Dave Obey is requesting another significant 2010 appropriation for the Family Health Center.
