Wednesday, April 8th, 2009 -- 12:54 pm Posted by Riley Hebert-News Director
Clark and Jackson Counties are getting closer to a first-of-its-kind agreement to share a highway commissioner.
Jackson Count's commissioner recently retired; they approached Clark County in the hopes of sharing the position.
Clark County’s Highway Committee looked over a draft agreement Tuesday, and will discuss it with Jackson County next weej.
Under the proposal, Highway Commissioner Randy Anderson’s salary $90,000 salary would be split 60-40, with Jackson County picking up the bigger share.
The initial contract would be for one year; subsequent contracts would be for 2-year periods. Each county could opt out with a 6 month notice.
