A decades-old sexual assault case recently cracked with the help of DNA evidence is moving forward.

39-year-old Michael Buchanan, Spencer, was bound over for trial Thursday after a preliminary hearing.

The alleged victim, now 30, testified.

Police say Buchanan abducted her from Wisconsin Rapids, blindfolded and drove her to his home, sexually assaulted her and then left her in a field. It happened in 1990.
The court entered not guilty please on behalf of Buchanan.

He was arrested last week after authorities say DNA evidence tied him to a nearly 20-year-old sexual assault.

It was re-opened last year and the DNA evidence was sent to the crime lab.
If found guilty of both charges, he faces up to 40 years behind bars.

He's due back in court in May.
