 A Stratford man accused of fatally beating his girlfriend waived his preliminary hearing in Marathon County Circuit Court Wednesday.
Authorites have charged Eric Mayer with felony murder. They say he struck 43-year-old Cynthia Tyler at a home they shared. She died as a result of the injury.
Mayer told investigators Tyler kicked him in the mouth and then he "smacked" her in the face, knocking her unconscious. Mayer said when she wouldn't wake up, he called 911. Mayer was arrested March 14, the criminal complaint says .
An arraignment has been scheduled April 13.
