STRANDED FISHERMAN: THANKS, BUT NO THANKS
Wednesday, March 25th, 2009 -- 12:22 pm
Posted by Riley Hebert-News Director

The Oshkosh Fire Department was turned away after attempting to rescue a fisherman who was floating on a slab of ice on Lake Winnebago.

Joseph Dake, 35, used a ladder across open water to get to the lab, about one quarter-mile from shore.

The ice was connected to the shore, but a large crack had formed.

The Oshkosh Fire Department sent a rescue boat to Dake Tuesday evening. But, the 35-year-old Oshkosh man refused assistance, saying the fishing was good.

No word on the outcome.
